Our Story
Wine country became a fixture for us not long after we moved to the Bay Area. We go for birthdays, for milestones, and sometimes just to slow down for a weekend. Napa and Sonoma have a pace that's hard to find anywhere else, and we've always come back feeling better for it. A lot of good memories have been made out there over the years. We're really happy to share that place with everyone coming to celebrate with us.
Winery Recommendations
For those who are planning on making a trip out of the wedding weekend, we've curated a list of our favorite wineries in wine country. Many wineries require reservations for tastings, so make sure to book ahead. For a full day of wine, plan for around 2-3 different destinations. While you're out, its important to remember to bring some water, plan for lunch, and (most importantly) enjoy every second of it. We truly believe that wine country is one of the best places in California, and we're so excited to share it with you!
Mayo Family Winery - Glen Ellen, CA
This was one of the first wineries we ever visited together. We went in 2022 and loved it so much that we signed up as members on the spot. It's a cozy, family-owned spot in Glen Ellen that ships less than 5000 cases a year. It is fully supported by its wine club members. The staff is incredibly friendly and they make you feel like part of the family, too.
Why we love it: We've been going back ever since we signed up. The vibe is relaxed, the people are great, and the wines are always unique. Walk-ins are welcome here! The "Mayo Reserve Room" is also a wonderful food and wine pairing experience that we cannot recommend enough!

Del Dotto Historic Winery & Caves - Napa, CA
We did the barrel tasting in the caves here and loved it. You walk through hand-dug caves from 1885, sampling different vintages and varietals straight from the barrel. You'll try LOTS of wines over about 90 minutes! This is a great tour for those interested in how the age of a wine affects its flavor and quality.
Why we love it: The caves are super special, and being able to drink right from the barrel is an incredibly unique experience. The staff here have an incredible amount of knowledge about winemaking, and we learned a lot while enjoying some delicious wines.

Schramsberg Vineyards - Calistoga, CA
If you love sparkling wine, this is your spot. Schramsberg is a real gem of wine country, tucked into the slopes of Diamond Mountain near Calistoga. The cave tour brings you through REAL wine caves stacked from floor to ceiling with aging bottles of sparkling wine. The caves are massive, and you get a great sense of scale when you're in it. The wine is also (obviously) great as well.
Why we love it: Their sparkling has been poured at official State dinners by every U.S. Presidential administration since 1972. They also have a beautiful frog pond in front of the tasting room!

V. Sattui Winery - St. Helena, CA
A wine country classic for a quick bite or a relaxed lunch outside. They have a great deli with tons of cheese, house-made charcuterie, and delicious sandwiches. They also have a very large picnic area with plenty of shade. They've also recently renovated their marketplace/tasting room!
Why we love it: Whenever we pass V. Sattui, we have a hard time resisting the Prosciutto Panini or Spicy Italian sandwich! If that sounds tasty to you as well, then make sure to add this to your itinerary.

Castello di Amorosa - Calistoga, CA
Yes. It's an actual Tuscan-style castle with a drawbridge, towers, and a TORTURE ROOM. (for decoration... never actually used) It was built over 13 years and opened in 2007. We recommend the guided tour, which brings you through the castle and down into the Dungeon, Armory, and Torture Chamber while sipping some of the estate wines.
Why we love it: Even if you're not a big wine person, the castle alone is worth the visit. Do the guided tour, though, since you won't see many of the cool parts of the castle without it.

Beringer Vineyards - St. Helena, CA
Don't be fooled by the name you recognize from grocery store... Beringer is Napa's oldest continuously operating winery! The tasting experience is refined, delicious, and fun.
Why we love it: We've had great service here every time. On one visit, they brought out a wine from our birth year as a surprise! The views are incredible from everywhere on the property, so bring a camera.

Napa Valley Wine Trolley - Napa, CA
Not a winery... it's the whole package! Tour Napa Valley on a mock San Francisco cable car bus, visiting 3 wineries (with lunch included). We've been on both the Napa and Sonoma trolleys and liked them both. It's a full day event. Be ready to drink lots of wine!
Why we love it: The wine trolley is a great way to do wine country without worrying about driving. The Napa trolley picks up and drops off at a great public market. We recommend Hog Island Oyster Co. if you want seafood and a solid dinner afterward.
